San Francisco is poised to become a little bit more like Europe. No, it’s not implementing the euro, but it is making drastic moves to become more bike-friendly. We hear that by 2020, the city wants 20 percent of trips made by bike.
The San Francisco Bicycle Coalition has a plans such as “Connecting the City,” an extensive blueprint of bike routes across the city. One question: Won’t all those hills be tough to bike up? Does the city have a plan in place to flatten them?
Along with biking, the city is also promoting the idea of car sharing and reducing the number of government vehicles.
Plans to add new bike lanes had been stopped by litigation, with concerns over higher parking charges holding the projects up.
